Manchester United started the game off on the right foot by scoring twice in the first 45 minutes. United seized the lead in the last seconds of the first half due to Sancho. Prior to the last seconds of the first half, Aston Villa conceded an own goal that left them in a difficult predicament, which improved the scenario for United.
However, things changed in the second half after Ten Hag made a lot of adjustments to give his squad a different offensive and defensive shape.
Aston Villa got back into the game with a fantastic goal by Bailey early in the second half. In the last seconds of play, Gerrard’s team equalized to secure a critical point against old rivals Manchester United.
It is quite easy to blame Ten Hag for United’s loss in the second half. The Dutch manager made series of poor substitions that exposed United’s defence.
