Munashe Hamandishe, 42, came to the capital city four months ago seeking work but has been unsuccessful in finding a job. He has resorted to scavenging throughtrash binsfor food and sleeping on the roadside in the Avenues area.
Hamandishe says “I want help to get bus fare to go back home as I am now very sick. I have been surviving by eating from bins.”
A Good Samaritan named Kaylin saw Hamandishe’s plight and brought him food and tea. She says initially she thought he was mentally ill or homeless, but after speaking with him she learned of his struggle.
Kaylin was moved by Hamandishe’s story and is now appealing to the public for assistance. She seeks donations to provide Hamandishe with transport funds to return home to Gutu village as well as access to medical care.
