The Belgium international is said to be on the verge of returning to Serie A, with a season-long loan agreement the most likely outcome of his difficult second spell at Stamford Bridge.
According to ESPN, Chelsea Boss, Thomas Tuchel has identified Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski as his top target to replace the Ex-Manchester United forward if and when he leaves.
During the 2021-22 season, no striker in the Europe’s top five leagues netted more goals than the Poland international, who scored 50 goals for the Bavarians in all competitions.
However, it appears that his time in the Bundesliga is coming to an end, since he recently made a statement about not wanting to stay.
The veteran striker has been credited with a number of top teams since then, including Barcelona & Real Madrid.
The London based club, on the other hand, are reportedly interested in signing the £350,000 per week forward. Deals for both Lukaku and Lewandowski are also said to be complicated with ‘several obstacles’ standing in the way of both deals.
