Klopp is pleased that Gomez has signed a new contract with Liverpool and has committed his long-term future to the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners.
The Liverpool boss has outlined what he genuinely thinks about the 25-year-old, who can operate as a central defender or as a right-back and has been on the books of the Reds since 2015 when he joined from Charlton Athletic for £3.5 million (The Guardian).

Klopp told Liverpool’s official website about Gomez: “And Joey is really a world-class defender, no shadow of a doubt. He believes in this project, he believes in himself and he wants to be a Liverpool FC player.
“And we want the team to stay obviously. I know what people say in these moments: ‘But you have him, you have him, you have him.’
“We’ll need the quality and we have the quality. And Joe Gomez when he played was outstanding for us and he will be outstanding for us.”
Important player
In our view, Joe Gomez is an important player for Liverpool, and he will play his role for the Reds in the coming years.
Now, Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate ara ahead of him in the pecking order, but that Gomez has signed a new contract suggests that he is confident of challenging for a place in the starting lineup.
Liverpool will be aiming to win the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup next season.
