The former Tottenham Hotspur star started the game from the bench due to tactical reason but was introduced in the 46th minute for Luka Ivanusec and he was able to deliver at the peak having been ever ready to come to the rescue of his team any time.
Luka Modric was at the heart of the midfield with total control and at the commanding end as his dictating style of play changed the tempo of the game in favour of the visitor, thereby played prominent and significant role in the hard-fought victory.
The game hanged on the balance in the first half with nothing to separate the two sides going into the half time break which ended goalless draw.
The tempo of the game got more heated up in the second half as they both put up some physical, tactical and technical displays but none was able to break the deadlock until the 69th minute when Mario Pasalic gave the visitor the lead to make not one nil.
After every other attempts from both sides to add more to the tally of the game, all proved futile as it ended one nil at full time with the only goal scored in the second half been enough to secure the whole maximum three points.
Luka Modric who had a blistering campaign with the Los Blancos with the same tempo been maintained for his national team so far, will be hoping to keep the run of form going as they continue their pursuit in the competition.
