He took to Twitter to say that Armando Broja is a player he has already identified as someone who can be a star under him.

In what was supposed to be a breakout season at Stamford Bridge for Broja, a serious knee injury ended his campaign during the club football break for the World Cup.

Despite only making sporadic appearances in this time, he had shown qualities to suggest that he had the potential to challenge for minutes for the remainder of the campaign.

It looks set to be all change in West London now the announcement has been made that Pochettino will become the next permanent manager from next month.

Pochettino excited by Broja

Reports have emerged of the players already in the Chelsea squad that the new boss is already excited to work with for next season.

Phillips has claimed that one of those names is Broja, who is stepping up his recovery ahead of the upcoming pre-season campaign.

He said: “Everyone at the club as well as Poch has a real belief in Broja – was part of the reason we didn’t rush into signing a new 9 in January. Poch feels if he gets back to his best, Broja can be perfect for his system.”

The majority of Chelsea supporters will still be hoping that the club invest this summer into a new striker, even if it is someone that can only do the job for a few years as to not stunt Broja too long.

The main candidate seems to be Victor Osimhen, however the club are well aware that it’ll probably take a club-record fee in order to prize him from Napoli.
