Paris Saint-Germain sporting advisor Luis Campos has already dived into the free agent market by signing Milan Škriniar. The Slovakian will join the French giants after his contract with Inter Milan expires on June 30.
However, he might not be the only one. Relevo’s Hugo Cerezo reported on Friday that PSG and Premier League clubs have been informed that Marco Asensio is on the brink of leaving Real Madrid as a free agent.
Asensio’s contract with the Spanish club expires on June 30 and there’s no agreement over a new deal. The report reveals that the 27-year-old has turned down Real Madrid’s latest contract extension offer.
As a result, the winger’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is now informing various clubs that they can land his client as a free agent.
The report doesn’t reveal the contract term or salary demands the forward will command in the open market this summer.
Whether or not the means Asensio gets the deal he’s looking for from another club or if this is a negotiating move to get a better deal out of Real Madrid remains to be seen.
