Elsewhere, Chelsea’s frustration boiled over as they were held to a 2-2 draw by a resilient Burnley side who played with 10 men for most of the game. Despite their unbeaten record against Burnley, Chelsea twice relinquished leads in a game filled with drama and controversy.

The match began with both teams exchanging chances, with Arijanet Muric denying Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández and Đorđe Petrović making a stunning save to keep out Wilson Odobert’s fierce strike for Burnley. Chelsea seemed to have taken the lead through Axel Disasi, but VAR intervened, ruling the goal out for handball.

However, Chelsea were awarded a penalty soon after, leading to Assignon’s dismissal and Vincent Kompany’s protest resulting in his sending off. Cole Palmer converted the penalty with a cheeky panenka, giving Chelsea the lead.

Burnley, unfazed by being a man down, came out firing in the second half. Josh Cullen equalized with a superb volley, giving Burnley hope. Despite Chelsea’s dominance in possession, Burnley remained dangerous on the counterattack, with Lyle Foster and Dara O’Shea both coming close to scoring.

Chelsea thought they had secured the win when Raheem Sterling’s assist allowed Palmer to score his second of the game. However, Burnley responded immediately, as O’Shea headed in Cullen’s corner to level the score once again.

The match reached a crescendo when Jay Rodriguez’s thunderous strike rattled the crossbar, but Burnley couldn’t capitalize on the rebound.

In the end, both teams had to settle for a point, with Burnley putting up a spirited fight despite being a man down.
