Liverpool duo Curtis Jones and Andy Robertson are closing in on injury returns as Sunday’s huge Premier League showdown with Arsenal looms, but Arthur Melo is a new face in the treatment room.
Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko appears to be the only fitness doubt ahead of the club’s clash with Liverpool on Sunday.
Jones and Robertson have been sidelined with respective knee and leg injuries, with the former having not played a competitive match so far this season and the latter out since the Champions League drubbing by Napoli last month.
Asked for team news on Friday, Mikel Arteta said:
“We will have more tomorrow. We have another training session and we will know more tomorrow.”
Zinchenko has previously struggled with a knee issue this season and his absence would mean Tierney starting against Liverpool.
Other than that, Arteta is likely to revert back to the team that beat Tottenham last weekend after making eight changes for Thursday’s win over Bodo. Emile Smith Rowe and Mohamed Elneny remain sidelined.
