As supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) spread political rumours, the APC is planning to field former Lagos State governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s candidate to succeed current President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2023 election. According to party supporters’ scandals, the APC will take this step in support of the zoning system the party has been in since it came to power in 2015.

On the other hand, the main opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been embroiled in controversy over the nomination of a presidential candidate based on the popularity of prominent politicians in the party, and all of them are showing interest in running for the presidency.

So, I think the PDP might get victory in 2023 if it fielded former vice president, Atiku Abubakar and former Kano governor, former defence minister, Engr Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as a running mate because of the reality of what appeared last week when the party held its national convention at Eagle Square in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

According to reports, Atiku and Kwankwaso have become PDP stalwarts who have gathered at the convention. The report said most of the people who attended the meeting were young people. As a result, if the PDP gives Atiku a presidential ticket and Kwankwaso becomes his deputy, it will give the party victory in 2023 because research shows that 70% of the voters in every election in the country are young people.

Furthermore, giving Atiku a presidential ticket is commendable considering his significant contribution to the party, and Atiku has become one of the party’s longest-serving leaders in the party, which proves that he did not join the PDP to leave after winning.

Furthermore, Kwankwaso has also become a politician who will be a key supporter of the PDP’s success due to his political clout in Kano State. Kano has become the largest state in northern Nigeria, and the state is one of the most politically powerful states in the country due to its population. As a result, Kwankwaso enjoys the support of the people of the state due to important community development projects he undertakes, especially the ones that will improve the achievement of the youth.
