The cleric who gave the charge in an interview with Sunday Sun recalled that the president, as a member of NADECO, risked everything including imprisonment to fight injustice and the imbalance in the country but could not realise the dream as the government of the day frustrated the efforts of the group.
His words: “The Number One thing that informed this advocacy apart from the present suffering in Nigeria is because of our President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.
We discover that this is the time for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a democrat and also a prominent member of NADECO who joined forces with others to fight injustice going on in our nation then, but was unable to complete the fight because he was not in position of power.
You remember that President Tinubu was imprisoned and chased out of the country because of this struggle. He was almost killed; so he had to run for dear life. We now felt that since we have a president of like mind, it is better we re-commence this struggle now that we have someone who may likely support our struggle.
“We see the present struggle as a way of reminding President Tinubu that he did not complete the struggle to liberate Nigeria which he joined forces with other democrats to commence.
“The Number Two thing that informed our struggle is the fact like I have mentioned is the way in which America is being run. Texas is a sovereign country and also a sovereign state in America. Also the United Arab Emirates (UAE) made Dubai a sovereign nation and the country is doing pretty well.
We believe we can also restructure and rebuild our present Nigeria under similar arrangement. Nothing stops us from having a United States of Nigeria (USN) with sovereign states like Kano, Kaduna, Delta, Osun, Rivers and other states like that,” he stated.
Olagunju expressed optimism that restructuring would bring about rapid development.
“We are sure that restructuring will serve as a catalyst for economic growth and sustainable development. We also believe that restructuring will foster unity, peace, love tranquility, equality and justice. Our aim is to agitate for a proper restructuring through national referendum,” he added.CONTINUE READING>>
