United used a 12-month extension clause in Rashford’s contract at the conclusion of the previous year after failing to convince him to sign a new, long-term deal.
Rashford, who has 16 goals for the squad in 26 games this season, contemplated leaving the group last year.
The England forward only scored five goals all season and was not started in pivotal matches against Manchester City and Liverpool.
However, since Erik ten Hag’s appointment, Rashford has found his form again. On Saturday, the forward scored the game-winning goal against City to give him 16 goals for the season.
Rashford’s representatives spoke with Paris Saint-Germain in August to talk about a trade.
The leadership of the French team has been outspoken about their desire to sign the winger.
However, according to the Manchester Evening News, Rashford is anxious to sign a new contract and talks for it are progressing at the Theatre of Dreams.
Though not by as much as top earning David De Gea, who is attempting to have his £375,000 weekly wage slashed, Rashford’s £200,000 weekly contract is likely to be boosted.
United is eager to lower their payroll in the wake of Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure.
