Since joining the Rekordmeister from Major League Soccer team Vancouver in January 2019, the Canadian has been a revelation, making 151 appearances and producing eight goals and 25 assists.

Joao Cancelo was acquired by Bayern from Manchester City in January after Pep Guardiola apparently lost interest in the Portugal international.

He was acquired by the Bavarians on loan with the possibility of a $70 million permanent transfer at the end of the campaign.

The Bayern management is debating whether or not to make the adaptable Portuguese full-back’s stay permanent, but he hasn’t been able to convince them that he is worth that much.

Although Cancelo, a former player for Juventus, is no longer part of the team’s long-term ambitions, it hasn’t stopped the English champions from focusing on Davies as a possible replacement.

This season, Davies has made 36 appearances for Bayern in all competitions. He has contributed to the squad with eight more assists in addition to his three goals.

Madrid, the reigning Spanish and European champions, are also pursuing the Canadian phenomenon as they intensify their quest for a new left-back this summer.

The only established left-back in Carlo Ancelotti’s team is Ferland Mendy, although the Frenchman has played in just 15 La Liga games due to injury issues this year.

Due to the 27-year-old’s calf injury, Nacho Fernandez and Eduardo Camavinga are being forced to fill in for the Frenchman.

Davies’ services will be contested by Los Blancos and Manchester City, but it is unclear whether Bayern will consider negotiations for their prized asset.
