Marcel Sabitzer plays as a midfielder for Bayern Munich after joining the German Bundesliga giants 18 months ago. After an outstanding time at RB Leipzig, he was signed by Bayern Munich but has struggled to secure a place in the starting lineup since.

The German star was signed by the Red Devils after he chose them ahead of Chelsea, who were also in the race for him.

Why was Marcel Sabitzer Signed?

Marcel Sabitzer was signed on transfer deadline day as a result of the news that Christian Eriksen would be out till April or May. This makes Erik ten Hag’s men short of options in midfield.

Scott McTominay is also injured while Donny Van de Beek would not be in action till the end of the season after sustaining a nasty injury. Marcel Sabitzer is expected to be a direct replacement for Christian Eriksen. As a box-to-box midfielder, he would be expected to be the link between attack and defense.

The German star is a hard-working player, who can tackle, defend, and also has an eye for a goal. He also has a good passing range. It is his work rate, though, that endeared him to Erik ten Hag.
