Manchester City midfielder Rodri may have potentially suffered a serious injury in the Club World Cup final against Fluminense. The reigning champions were cruising to victory when Rodri was on the end of a strong tackle which left him in pain on the floor.
The Spain international attempted to carry on playing but it was ultimately decided he would be withdrawn alongside Man City medical staff with just over 15 minutes to play.
While Pep Guardiola’s side have only lost four games this season, all of those have come with Rodri out of the team through suspension.
Erling Haaland also missed the final in Saudi Arabia alongside Jeremy Doku, although Kevin De Bruyne returned to training for the first time since early August.
If Rodri has suffered a serious injury, it could have significant consequences in this season’s title race against Arsenal and Liverpool with those two teams set to clash at Anfield this weekend.
