Pep Guardiola’s troops, of course, are currently in the process of putting the finishing touches on preparations for a crucial closing stretch of the campaign.

After closing out their latest triumphant Premier League campaign tomorrow evening, the Sky Blues will kick into gear efforts to seal a first-ever club treble.

First up comes an FA Cup final showdown with neighbours Manchester United at Wembley a week from today.

Then, a week later, it’s on to Istanbul, for a Champions League showpiece meeting with Serie A giants Inter Milan.

Safe to say, then, that Guardiola will no doubt be desperate to have as many key members of his squad as possible fit and ready to feature over the course of the coming fortnight.

And, as alluded to above, one such City star to have spent time on the sidelines of late now appears to be in line to boost the options of the coaching staff at The Etihad.

The player in question? Nathan Ake.

Stopper Ake, amid a fine season to date, has been forced to sit out each of his side’s last five fixtures, owing to a hamstring injury picked up earlier this month.

According to The Mirror, though, the Dutchman is set for an imminent return to action, potentially as early as tomorrow, having rejoined full training alongside the rest of City’s squad this week.
