The 26-year-old has been reportedly open to leaving Stamford Bridge this summer, following a lack of gametime under current manager Thomas Tuchel.
With the World Cup only a few months away, the German international is undoubtedly looking to hold off competition for his place in Hansi Flick’s frontline.
Broja meanwhile is also reportedly in the hunt for more gamtime, with him coming close to a move to West Ham United.
However, Thomas Tuchel’s insistence to keep the striker from leaving permanently seemingly stalled the move long enough for the Hammers to shift their target, eventually signing Gianluca Scamacca instead.
Boehly would rather sell Werner than Broja
The German’s reluctance for him to leave appears to be matched by the new owner, with Crook claiming he has an eye to the future in keeping the Albanian.
He said: “I think Boehly is looking to get rid of him, along with a lot of the high earners.
“I think Boehly would rather keep players like Levi Colwill and Armando Broja and build for the future and cash in on people like Werner, [Callum Hudson Odoi], who haven’t lived up to expectations, [Ross] Barkley and maybe even N’Golo Kante.”
Despite Broja’s insistence to leave even seeing him leave the US tour early, there is no reason why he shouldn’t feel confident in having the ability to earn regular minutes at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have not seen a regular goalscorer at all over the last couple of seasons, with Mason Mount last year being the only player to reach double digits in the league in that time.
With him showing signs at Southampton that he can cause top defenders real problems, a few games in the creative Chelsea side could see him flourish as a prolific forward.
