According to the Belgian star, he likes playing behind the striker, in the number ten role and he can also be deployed in the wings. However, his preferred position is behind the striker, where he will have the freedom to roam, score goals, as well as create chances.
His style of play and why Arsenal signed him
Leandro Trossard’s style of play, which involves speed and the ability to make quick passes, will also suit Arsenal’s current style of play under Arteta, which focuses on quick passing, pressing, and high intensity of possession football.
Mikel Arteta seems to have settled on a preferred formation this season and if he is to continue with his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation, then the chances are that Trossard would be deployed on one of the wings where his abilities on the ball can be utilized to the maximum.
His pace and agility make him perfect for taking on defenders 1v1 while his crossing ability will also be beneficial for providing service to Gabriel Jesus/Nketiah – two players who thrive when receiving passes in dangerous areas.
He would have to battle for a place on the left wing with Gabriel Martinelli but this would be great for Mikel Arteta who would be looking to keep his players fresh through rotation. Trossard can also deputize for Martin Odegaard in the number ten role if he is required to.
