According to a report that appeared in the Daily Nation on Monday, May 6, the second and third terms will be extended to accommodate the lost days.
The newspaper, while quoting Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, states that the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education that is slated to kick off in November will not be impacted.
Whereas the third term was initially expected to start a after a three week break in August, the paper reported that there will be a likelihood of the holiday being cut short to make up for the current lost time that is now set to get into its second week.
At the same time, part of the lost time might be recovered on the month of December to avoid it from spilling over into the 2025 academic year.
Initially, the school calendar had slotted schools to open on April 29. The opening of the schools was however postponed in the middle of the night on April 28 following the heavy rains and floods that have been hitting the country.
