It was her time at KBC that propelled her to the limelight. And before long, Citizen TV came calling. And there, she established herself as one of the finest Swahili news anchors in the country.

After almost one decade at the SK Macharia- owned media house, in 2018, Dena rejoined government after being appointed as government spokesperson by Dr Ruto.

In the process, she became the first woman in the history of the country to hold the position. In her position, she also doubled up as the director, presidential strategic communication unit after succeeding Manoah Esipisu who would later become Kenya’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

But the regime change in 2022 pushed Kanze Dena out of State House after President William Ruto’s as ascension to the highest office on land.

At State House, Dena was succeeded by her former Citizen TV colleague, Hussein Mohammed who had worked as Ruto’s director of communication during the 2022 campaigns.

But having won the trust of Uhuru, Kanze was among those retained by the former President as part of her staff.

The former Citizen TV news anchor continues to run Uhuru’s communication desk. On her social media handles, she often shares the retired President’s engagements.
