According to ‘Barbecue’, the 1,000 law enforcement officers Kenya proposes to send on a peace-keeping mission to Haiti would be welcomed with ferocious assault by the gangs since they will be viewed as ‘invaders’ threatening the lives of innocent Haitians.
“If the Kenyan military or police arrive, I will consider them aggressors. We will consider them invaders, and we will not participate with any invaders who have come to undermine our independence,” Barbecue stated in an interview with Sky News on Friday.
The gang leader further warned that peacekeeping soldiers will exacerbate the already existing violence since they do not understand the background of the rivalry in Haiti, resulting in a slaughter that would also include innocent people.
According to him, Kenyan police and other international entities already have a preconceived concept that they would be battling bandits and gangs, which prevents the gangs from engaging in discussion and reaching an agreeable resolution to the dispute.
“I believe that just like I said, if Kenyans come, first of all, they will come to commit massacres in the poor communities because the oligarchs and the corrupt politicians are going to tell them where to go…they are going to enter the poor communities on the pretext that they are coming to eliminate gangs and bandits,” he explained.
