For this reason, we hope the Blues give Wesley Fofana a start occasionally. On Saturday afternoon, Chelsea will host Leeds in a highly anticipated Premier League matchup between two teams who need to win badly.

With only two wins in their past sixteen games in all competitions, Graham Potter’s squad will play in front of a home crowd that is on the verge of erupting. As a result of their terrible form, they are currently ranked 10th in the league.

Leeds, meanwhile, is only one point and one place (in the table) above the relegation zone when they visit Stamford Bridge.

We think Chelsea should start Fofana this weekend for the first time in a long time. The 22-year-old defender hasn’t started a game since October due to a knee injury that has kept him out of action for most of the season. The French central defender, though, has been used off the bench in each of the last two league games.

There is a major void in the Chelsea defense now that Thiago Silva is out with an injury. Fofana, who the club spent £70 million to acquire from Leicester City last summer, deserves to have his faith put in him by Potter.

There has been a lot of criticism leveled at the new Chelsea owners’ additions, but it is far too soon to pass judgment on Fofana due to his injury problems.

Indeed, Blues fans have had very little opportunity to witness the former Leicester star’s exceptional talent.

Fans of Leicester City know that he is a modern center defender who is excellent with the ball in his feet and calm under pressure defensively, and they also know that he plays with wonderful aggression.

It seems obvious to start Fofana in a match against Chelsea’s rivals Leeds since his charisma is just the thing to cheer up the Blues’ disappointed fanbase.

In the following weeks, if he receives more playing time, he could become a fan favorite. Chelsea fans can only pray that he is the next Antonio Rudiger. Fofana seems like he could give Chelsea a much-needed injection of grit and desire.
