Recall that the current governor of Rivers state was once the chief of staff to Chibuike Amaechi at the time he was ruling. It was even governor Nyesom Wike that fought for Amaechi’s position which made Sir Celestine Omehia to step down from the governorship position in the state.
According to reports, Sir Celestine Omehia won the governorship election but was beaten by Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi in the PDP’s primaries. It was believed that barrister Wike was in front line for that case which was later successful.
Then both political leaders were in the People’s Democratic Party. However, former governor Amaechi, defected to the All Progress Congress party to continue his political ambition. Dakuku Peterside from the APC party was singled out to continue from Amaechi.
Rivers people had to vote in the PDP’s governorship candidate, in the person of barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike. Ever since then, the former governor Amaechi, has been having what is termed “Political War” with governor Wike.
Both political leaders are important dignitaries in the state and should reconcile in order to bring the best out of the state as it is said that “two good heads are better than one.”
Most Rivers people want both of them to be reconciled, here is a possible way that may bring Wike and the current minister of transportation back together.
Defection of Amaechi to PDP; Governor Nyesom Wike made it clear in one of his interview that he can never support Amaechi if he is running for president in 2023, however, he can consider supporting him if he defects to his party PDP.
My opinion; If governor Wike could support Amaechi for returning to his party, then there is every possibility that they could reconcile with each other if Amaechi dumps APC and rejoins PDP.
