As the reigning number one citizen of Nigeria, there is no disputing the fact that President Buhari has tried and keeps trying his best towards achieving the most for the country, but unfortunately terrorists, bandits and their accomplices have been striving hard to make a mess of his supposedly fruitful administration. For the sake of this, the hardworking man has been rendered unpopular among some residents of the country. Thus, many of them have been protesting both back home and in the diaspora that he should either resign on his own, or be impeached. An example of such is the ongoing protests that started since early this month which was just after some suspected bandits burned over forty travellers alive in the vehicle they were traveling on.

However, as Nigerians curiously anticipate the 2023 general elections after which President Buhari will have exhausted his second of the two 4-year tenures, there have also been apprehension as regards who will be able to better paddle the affairs of the country, especially in the aspects of the insecurity challenges. It was in the lights of this that reports had it that former Military Head of State if the country from 1985 to 1993, retired General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, endorsed the current Vice President (VP), Prof. Yemi Osibajo to succeed his current boss. And in this article, we shall be seeing some of the real reasons why the ex-Military Chief might not be wrong after all.

1.) The man (Osibajo) in question is a respected Professor of Law. And before he delved into politics, he was said to be a Law lecturer at the prestigious University of Lagos. This implies that he is already equipped with the knowledge of rulership that can help him through as President.

2.) As a politician who has already attained such a high fit as that of VP, there is no doubt that he is in possession of the experience he needs, in addition to his a academic qualifications, to handle the plethora of challenges antagonising the country.

3.) As a man of honour, he has never been found wanting of any anti-social shortcomings. As President, he will no doubt put this to play as well.

4.) Before he started politicking, the reigning VP was a renowned Minister of God who adequately respected God and humanity. And even presently, he remains so. Thus, judging by his clean record, there is no doubt that he will prove his endorsers right.

So, as an experienced elder statesman, Babangida may not have endorsed the wrong person to continue from where the current President Buhari shall bow out in 2023.
