Real Madrid clinched the first position in Champions League Group F with a 5-1 win against Celtic at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Los Blancos needed a victory on matchday six to secure their spot at the top of the table after losing 3-2 to RB Leipzig the previous week, and they did so in style.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team took the lead after only five minutes, with Luka Modric converting a penalty after Moritz Jenz handled inside the area.

After fifteen minutes, the referee once again pointed to the area for handball. Since Rodrygo was given the go-ahead to accept the penalty and had the same result as his teammate, Matt O’Riley was the guilty party this time.

The referee gave Celtic a penalty when David Alaba fouled Liel Abada, giving them a great chance to get a goal back after they had squandered their own opportunities.

However, Thibaut Courtois proved unbeatable as Josip Juranovic’s attempt from 12 yards was turned down.

After the break, Vinicius Junior got involved in the scoring, expertly finishing Federico Valverde’s cross, and the game was effectively over for Celtic six minutes later thanks to a goal from Marco Asensio. Federico Valverde then added a fifth goal with a sweet strike as the visitors began to crumble.
