Brentford 3-0 Southampton
Brentford defeated Southampton 3-0 in yesterday’s match. The hosts got off to a good start and took two early leads when Pontus Jansson put the home side ahead in the 13th minute before Yoane Wissa added a second with a composed finish a minute later.
As the second half began, the Saints wasted chances in front of goal as they attempted to regain control of the game. It got worse for them in the 79th minute, when the home side finally put them out of their misery when Kristoffer Ajer found the net with a brilliant shot to make it 3-0.
Burnley 1-3 Aston Villa
Aston Villa extended their winning streak to two games after defeating relegation-threatened Burnley 3-1 at Turf Moor. The visitors led 2-0 at halftime, thanks to goals from Ings and Buendia, before Watkins added a third on 52 minutes to seal the victory.
Throughout the game, Villa was the superior team, dominating ball possession and having more shots on goal. Burnley, on the other hand, scored a consolation goal in stoppage time through Cornet, bringing the game to a close at 3-1.
Chelsea 2-2 Wolves
Chelsea’s poor run of form continues after their 2-2 draw with Wolves yesterday. Thomas Tuchel’s side blew a two-goal lead, allowing Wolves to salvage a late point. Lukaku scored a brace in the early minutes of the second half to put the Blues up 2-0, and the visitors appeared to be out of options.
Late in the game, substitute Trincao scored a beautiful curler in the 79th minute, followed by Coady’s header in stoppage time. The results were disappointing for the Blues.
Crystal Palace 1-0 Watford
Watford dropped out of the Premier League after a 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace yesterday. From the first half to the final whistle, Palace dominated.
In the first half, Zaha scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot, coolly slotting in to convert after Kamara’s handball.
Brighton 4-0 Manchester United
Yesterday, Brighton defeated Manchester United 4-0 at the Amex Stadium. Brighton made a strong start, with Moises Caicedo putting the Seagulls ahead in the first half, before Marc Cucurella, Pascal Gross, and Leandro Trossard unleashed an onslaught after the break to humiliate the Red Devils.
Manchester United will no longer be able to compete in the Champions League next season as a result of the defeat.
Liverpool 1-1 Tottenham
Liverpool dropped crucial points against Tottenham yesterday after drawing the game. Despite moving to the top of the table ahead of Manchester City on goal difference, the Reds will feel they have lost ground because their title rivals now have a game in hand.
Son broke the deadlock and saw the visitors take thee lead in the first half after Sessegnon laid the ball to him. Tottenham defended brilliantly as the hosts desperately tried to equalize. Spurs’ resistance was finally broken on 74 minutes, when a Diaz long-range shot deflected off Bentancur, fooling Lloris and nestling into the bottom corner.
Both teams had chances to win the game, but neither could capitalize on them. The game ended 1-1 and both teams had to share the points.
