Argentine players swept most of the awards in the ceremony today as Lionel Messi won the best Men’s player of the year award once again while Lionel Scaloni and Emiliano Martinez clinched awards from their respective categories.
Well, one of the main talking points in this ceremony was how Cristiano Ronaldo seemed to have been disrespected by FIFA. During the whole happenings in the ceremony, Cristiano Ronaldo’s clip of when he was on the bench for Portugal in the World Cup last year was shown on the open screen.
Clearly, this wasn’t any need to show Cristiano Ronaldo at a down point in his career since he wasn’t nominated for any award in the ceremony. If showing him was important, they should have shown a clip of him netting a goal for Portugal instead of that which they brought up just to ridicule the former Manchester United star. It was indeed unprofessional and insulting of FIFA in the ceremony today.
