According to a reliable source the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has dared the Nigerian government by giving two instructions to the people of the Southeast. Socio-cultural groups in the country, Coalition of the Northern Groups, Ohanaeze, Afenifere, and Middle Belt Forum, had in their new year messages stated that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration must tackle insecurity and the ailing economy. In separate releases, the groups stated that the Buhari government must go beyond “mere rhetorics” and muster the political will to end insecurity and immediately restore peace and prosperity across the country.
Middle Belt Forum
The Middle Belt people according to Dr. Pogu Bitrus, the MBF National President, have continued to suffer severe and persistent attacks from marauding gangs of murderous herdsmen. Something that can no longer be tolerated, in many parts of the Middle Belt region of southern Kaduna, Niger, Plateau, Benue, Adamawa, among others these killings have become a trend.
Ohanaeze
poverty and injustice were identified as Nigerians’ major problems by Alex Chiedozie Ogbonna, National Publicity Secretary. Alex had also urged that the president, should just like Obasanjo did to the North-West when he said it was their turn to produce the president support a president from Igboland. According to him, it would go a long way to solving the problem of injustice because such a move would amount to justice.
Afenifere
Jare Ajayi, who is the National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, had said that the Buhari administration must use this year and the remaining part of 2023 before its tenure expires to right the wrongs that have occurred since it came to power. Jare Ajayi listed two areas the Buhari administration needed to follow which are security and the economy.
Coalition of the Northern Groups

The Coalition of the Northern Groups on Sunday said the 2023 general elections could only be held in the expectation of every Nigerian was that the government would bring a conclusive end to the daunting security challenges that characterized the past years.
In my opinion, the federal government was right to proscribe IPOB to a terrorist group. While some of the Socio-cultural groups were lamenting about Boko Haram elements that had taken parts of Borno State, for years without any challenge from security personnel they had forgotten to include IPOB who with their recent instructions have shown they don’t want peace in the Southeast. IPOB, however with its recent statement has shown that it’s not a Socio-cultural group but a terrorist group. They have done this by daring the Nigerian government, also by imposing themselves on fellow citizens.
National anthem shall no longer be sung in schools located in South-East region
As part of its action plan for the year 2022, the group just like Boko Haram has shown that they don’t want to be part of Nigeria. According to the group, there should be no more Nigerian National Anthems, sung in all schools in the Southeast region. Furthermore, the group said that children of the Southeast must no longer be reminded daily that they are under oppression by singing the national anthem of the oppressor.
IPOB also urged school authorities and proprietors to teach students the Biafran national anthem instead. What IPOB has however failed to understand is that every citizen in the Southeastern States has equal rights to decide what sovereignty they want to obey. IPOB has to understand that the Southeast can and will never be a Biafra land because in Nigeria there is only one sovereignty and it’s the federal government. Their propaganda of oppression is baseless because they are the ones oppressing innocent citizens in the Southeast.
Slaughtering Of Cows Raised By Fulani Herder
The terrorist group had banned the slaughtering of cows raised by Fulani herders during festive seasons in the South-East region, instructing that native cows will be used instead for these events.
Sadly, if the citizens were to disobey this other there will be senseless destruction of communities and the unprovoked killings of defenseless citizens. Innocent and vulnerable people will face the full terror of these criminals if they went ahead and slaughter cows raised by Fulani herders, IPOB is trying to create disunity amongst the Southeast and the North.
