And Scott McTominay, who had suffered criticism from fans and pundits, has started producing one of his best performances in a United shirt.

Casemiro, who joined from Real Madrid this summer, is likely to make his full debut in the Europa League on Thursday against Real Sociedad.

But Ferdinand fears the £60million recruit will have to wait a little longer to force his way into Ten Hag’s Premier League starting XI.

According to the former England star, it is hard to change a team that is already growing in confidence and winning mentality, “especially when they’ve been searching for some consistency for a long time.

“If they continue keeping on winning it’s going to be difficult for Casemiro to get into this team at the moment no matter how good he is,” Ferdinand said while describing the defensive midfielder as the best in the world in that role

Casemiro has come from the bench in Manchester United’s three last games since he arrived from Real Madrid as McTominay refuses to give up his place in the midfield through his exceptional performances.

The Red Devils face Spanish LaLiga side, Real Sociedad, in the Europa League on Thursday, and Casemiro will hope to be in Erik in Erik ten Hag’s starting line-up.
