Southampton vs Manchester United...CONTINUE READING

Saturday’s Premier League action begins at St. Mary’s Stadium with a bottom-half battle between Southampton and Manchester United.

In addition to a humiliating 4-1 loss at Tottenham Hotspur and a nail-biting 2-2 draw with Leeds United at home, the Saints had a terrible start to the current Premier League season.

However, despite giving up in their ninth straight league game, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s club enters this game in excellent spirits after rallying from behind to upset Leicester City 2-1 last weekend.

Only Man United stands in Southampton’s way of recording their first clean sheet in the Premier League in ten games.

After losing his first two Manchester United games in the Premier League to weaker rivals Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford, Erik ten Hag guided his team to a commanding 2-1 home victory over Liverpool the most recent time out.

The Red Devils secured a spirit-boosting victory over their rivals to reclaim some confidence after a dismal start to the season. Both Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho scored.

Everton’s Demarai Gray’s goal in the 88th minute gave Everton their first point of the campaign against Nottingham Forest.

Lampard’s admission that midweek’s hard-fought 1-0 win against third-tier Fleetwood Town was a positive sign of where they are as a team.

Everton possible starting XI:

Brighton vs Leeds United

On Saturday, two teams that have had very promising starts to the season face off, and both managers hope to continue this way, as both teams have scored seven points each this season and are up there in the top five on the log.

After their best-ever Premier League season last year, Graham Potter and the Seagulls have steadily improved. They put on a terrific display to overcome West Ham 2-0 at the London Stadium last week, offering hope for better things this year after victories over Manchester United and Newcastle.

Chelsea vs Leicester City

At Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon, Chelsea will play host to Leicester City in the Premier League.

Wesley Fofana, the outstanding French center-back for Leicester who has attracted interest from Chelsea three times, has further connected the fates of the two teams, who have had rocky starts to the current season.

Liverpool vs Bournemouth

In the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, Bournemouth, who just received promotion, will visit winless and ailing Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s team is yet to defeat a team that was promoted this season with just two points, and they have fewer points than their upcoming opponents after three games.

Bournemouth visit Anfield after suffering consecutive defeats to Manchester City and Arsenal by a combined score of 0-7. In midweek, Scott Parker’s club did succeed in moving on to the EFL Cup fourth round, but Norwich City necessitated a shootout.

Bournemouth possible starting XI: Travers; Mepham, Lerma, Kelly; Smith, Cook, Pearson, Zemura; Tavernier, Christie; Moore

Man City vs Crystal Palace

Manchester City, the reigning Premier League champion, will host Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon. In a dramatic 3-3 draw away to Newcastle United last Saturday, Pep Guardiola’s team overcame a two-goal deficit for the third time in their previous five Premier League games to gain a point.

In less than three minutes, Crystal Palace reversed Ollie Watkins’ opening goal as the Eagles beat Aston Villa last weekend. Following their first league victory of the year, Patrick Vieira’s club advanced to the fourth round of the EFL Cup midweek.

Fulham vs Arsenal

On Saturday night, promoted Fulham and on-form Arsenal will face off in the Premier League.

The Gunners are riding a three-game winning streak in the Premier League as they approach the fourth week of the season for the first time in 18 years.

After winning in the final seconds against Brentford in the west of the city, Fulham’s increasing optimism was dashed by a stunning EFL Cup loss to Crawley Town on Tuesday night.

Mikel Arteta has been fortunate to avoid being hit by an injury wave so far in the season. Emile Smith Rowe and Takehiro Tomiyasu have been given some bench time while they recover after Reiss Nelson, a member of the lesser-used team, sustained a thigh injury earlier in August.

Fulham possible starting XI: Leno; Tete, Tosin, Ream, Robinson; Reed, Palhinha; Cairney, Pereira, Decordova-Reid; Mitrovic.
