Mason Mount graduated from Chelsea’s Football Academy in 2016 and enjoyed two successive loan spells at Vitesse and Derby County respectively.

Former Ajax boss and current Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag had wanted to sign Mason Mount for Ajax then but Chelsea rejected the idea of selling the youngster.

In the summer of 2019, Mount was brought back to West London by Frank Lampard when Chelsea were restricted from making any summer additions and no player was allowed to depart Stamford Bridge.

The 24-year-old midfielder eventually went on win two Player of the Season accolades at Chelsea during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons and also added a Champions League winners medal to his trophy cabinet.

In 2022, he won the Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup and ex Chelsea boss and current Bayern Munich manager, Thomas Tuchel, described Mason Mount as a young player with a unique sparkle in his eyes.

However, that sparkle disappeared last season as Chelsea ended a dreadful 2022-23 campaign in 12th place in the Premier League log behind Aston Villa, Brighton, Fulham and Brentford.

Mount contribution just three goals and two assists in a Chelsea shirt last season but Erik ten Hag remains adamant that the 24-year-old is yet to unlock his full potential.

Now, with all that in mind and no further delays, below is why Chelsea will regret selling Mason Mount to Manchester United this summer.

Versatility

Kai Havertz has departed Stamford Bridge for Arsenal this summer and the Blues has lost their second midfielder who can contribute hugely in attack in Mason Mount.

Mount can be deployed as a central midfielder or as an attacking midfielder but his great understanding of the game can also see him flourish as an outside winger in both flanks.

The departure of Mason Mount from West London to Manchester United could prove too costly for the Blues in the future.

Energy

Mount’s energy has made varieties of managers run heels over heads for the 24-year-old and with Ngolo Kante and Mateo Kovacic sold out, Chelsea will be without a high pressing midfielder that can contributes tirelessly on and off the ball.…READFULL
