Arrizabalaga had a tremendous season last year, but many overlook it due of the overall campaign and team performance. In reality, the Spaniard’s form fell slightly near the end of the season.
Arrizabalaga was seventh in saves per game among keepers who played at least 19 games, which is impressive considering he is a Chelsea keeper. He was also tied with sixth in clean sheets per game.…READFULL
James has become one of Europe’s greatest right backs since the 2021/22 season. His 2022/23 season was a disaster, but he was never totally fit, which is an issue in and of itself. Wesley Fofana is another straightforward pick, owing partly to his price tag and pay, and hence his position.
His ability to read the game is widely documented, and last season he won double the amount of fouls he committed, committing 0.7 fouls per game but being fouled 1.4 times each game, which is exceptional for a centerback.
From game reading and duelling to passing, Badiashile is clearly the superior player. This is not a criticism of Colwill, who is an excellent centerback for AS Monaco. Colwill is still a very excellent centerback who will improve as he plays, but the record needs to be cleared up.
Chelsea suffered a lot in previous seasons when Ben Chilwell got injured. He also has the issue of fitness, though everyone hopes that next season will be different when it comes to managing players injuries and recoveries.
Fernandez has already demonstrated his abilities and has grown in value to the team as more central midfielders have left. Fernandez appears to prefer a free role, which is difficult to manage when playing in a pivot, but he adds so much to the buildup that there’s a case to be made that he should be the pivot’s more forward-playing midfielder. The source of his anxiety is his centre midfield partner.
In the 2020/21 season, Chalobah played central midfield for Ligue 1 club Lorient. As things stand, the Blues’ No. 14 is the finest player at the club capable of partnering Fernandez in midfield. Chalobah’s passing is excellent, and he is more than capable of being the pivot partner for a great passer like Fernandez. Nkunku had a fantastic season last year, and the Blues are acquiring a very smart player. He’s the best player on the team for this role.…READFULL
In attack, Noni Madueke is the club’s sole nominal right winger; he has the opportunity of showing Pochettino what he can do before anyone else, and he should take use of it. Chelsea has been associated with no known right wingers. Sterling is the best left winger option available.
He came in as a high-profile acquisition, and while he hasn’t lived up to the hype, his talent is undeniable. Jackson would be the greatest striker option, mostly since the headline striker signing made by Chelsea in 2021/22 has stated his desire to play at Stamford Bridge again. Jackson is undoubtedly a gifted athlete who deserves a chance to shine;
