The deceased woman is a rising music star who recently signed a two-year deal with an Asian record label that included a brand new Ford Explorer SUV, a home on Banana Island, and international distribution of her works through the label’s Asian affiliates.
Nielsen, 54, was convicted by Justice Bolanle Okikiolu-Ighile on two counts of murder brought by the Lagos State Government.
Nielsen was sentenced to death by hanging on both counts by the judge.
According to the State Prosecutor, the accused murdered his wife, Zainab Nielsen, and daughter, Petra Nielsen, on April 5 at their Banana Island home in Lagos.
The act was committed at 3:45 a.m. at Number 4, Flat 17, Bella Vista Tower, Banana Island, Ikoyi, according to Kazeem, the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
He stated that the offense violated and was punishable under Section 223, Cap C17, Vol 3, Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
Nielsen appeared in court on June 13, 2018.
He pleaded not guilty to the two-count murder charge under Section 223 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.
The defendant told the court at the last adjourned date that he realized his wife and daughter had died before a doctor arrived at their home.
Nielsen stated that after realizing they had died, he covered them with two blankets.
This was stated by the defendant during his cross-examination.
