It was a busy day of World Cup action yesterday as Kai Havertz was benched and criticised for Germany in their key match and Hakim Ziyech helped his Morocco side to a massive 2-0 victory over Belgium, also picking up the Player of the Match award.

England are in action tomorrow and we’ll have all the build-up to that ahead of the final group game as well as the latest transfer news involving Lionel Messi, Christian Pulisic and Declan Rice.

Havertz slammed

Kai Havertz was dropped from Germany’s team to play Spain as Hansi Flick’s side tried to recover from their shock opening game defeat to Japan.

The Chelsea forward thought he had scored a second goal for his country in the first half of their game against Hajime Moriyasu’s side, but saw his effort ruled out for offside – something that brought great criticism form Ian Wright. He was then subbed off in the second half despite his team chasing a goal.

Next club for Messi

Although it won’t be Chelsea that sign Lionel Messi – a ship that sailed a little while ago – the 35-year-old leaving Paris Saint-Germain may well have huge consequences for the Blues down the line.

Not only does it mean that any Todd Boehly pipe dream will end, there is already existing interest between the clubs in each others players and in similar transfer targets too.

Messi, who the Telegraph report is close to agreeing a move away from Paris next summer in a free deal to join Inter Miami, will also leave Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in a transfer that opens up a slot in the star-studded French side.
