His interview, as quoted by EuroSport, about the new era at Chelsea is really interesting. As you’d expect he’s extremely positive about whether we can improve in the next 12 months.

“It’s a smart appointment,” said Cole of the decision to bring in Mauricio Pochettino as Chelsea’s new manager.

“Chelsea fans will have to get over the fact he was manager at a big rival, because he’s a coach that will bring so much to the club.

“He’s a manager that will relish the challenge of getting the club back on an even keel. He ticks a lot of boxes: he likes working with young players and his teams are dynamic and energetic.

“It’s an exciting time but he just needs to be left alone now to get on with the job, make sure they get players into the club that he wants to work with and that he feels are right for the team.”

There are some major questions remaining of course, as Cole points out later in the interview when talking about the departure of Mason Mount, but we share his excitement about the arrival of Pochettino.
