Chelsea target Victor Osimhen “ticks a lot of boxes” for the west London club, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke....CONTINUE READING

The Blues are thought to have the Napoli striker on their radar, and O’Rourke is confident that he would be a success in the Premier League.

As per 90min, Chelsea are considering bringing in a new forward next summer and have identified Osimhen as a potential target.

The English side only signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona at the start of September, but the former Arsenal captain is now 33 years of age.

With Aubameyang unlikely to be a long-term option for Chelsea, it is not a surprise to hear that they are looking at Osimhen, who has been in excellent form for Napoli this season.

In seven Serie A outings, the Nigerian has scored four goals to help take his side to the top of the table.

O’Rourke thinks Osimhen, who has registered 71 times in his senior career, could be a great fit for Graham Potter’s side.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “He’s a prolific goalscorer in the Champions League for Napoli as well as in Serie A. I think Osimhen has got the attributes to be a big success in the Premier League.

“He’s powerful, strong, fast and he obviously knows where the goal is. For Chelsea, he ticks a lot of boxes.”
Should Chelsea sign Osimhen?

It would make a lot of sense. Again, they may need to sign another centre-forward given Aubameyang’s age.

Kai Havertz’s lack of goals is also a bit of a concern for the Blues. Last season, the German scored just eight times in 29 Premier League appearances. If they want to seriously challenge for the title, then they probably need a bit more than that.

Osimhen, on the other hand, scored 14 times in roughly the same number of games. Of course, there is no guarantee that the £58.5m-rated Nigeria international can do the same in England. You only have to look at Romelu Lukaku’s second spell at Stamford Bridge to realise that.

However, Potter needs to find a way to add more goals to this Chelsea side if he wants to take them to the next level. Christopher Nkunku, who is thought to be closing in on a move to the Premier League outfit, is a great start. But someone like Osimhen may also be needed in west London.
