The Frenchman missed more than half of the games that Chelsea played last season due to injury and when he’s available, he wasn’t in an impeccable form. Thomas Tuchel couldn’t be bothered to hide how the lengthy absence of N’Golo Kante affected his team.
In 2022, Thomas Tuchel in an interview, said: “N’Golo is our Mohamed Salah, he’s our Virgil Van Dijk, he’s our Kevin De Bruyne, he’s our Neymar and he’s our Kylian Mbappe.”
Thomas Tuchel comparing N’Golo Kante to all of these world class Players is not because the French Midfielder can play in their position but, he’s trying to paint an apparent picture of the importance of N’Golo Kante to Chelsea squad.
N’Golo Kante played a pivotal role in the success of Chelsea in the last Premier League success of the West London club in 2017.
He was also the best Player during the season that Chelsea won their last Europa league title in 2019. His contributions to the success of the West London club in the UEFA Champions League in 2021 cannot be overemphasized.
N’Golo Kante is clearly an important Player but Graham Potter hasn’t been lucky enough to have the Frenchman on the Pitch because he was injured prior to the appointment of the England International as Thomas Tuchel’s replacement.
After over 6 Months of absence, N’Golo Kante is walking back into a disorganized Chelsea squad. Graham Potter is on the verge of getting sacked, with the next 2 games against Leeds United and Borussia Dortmund his major tests.
Chelsea’s problem will be solved with a defensive Midfielder. If N’Golo Kante is fit enough to play with Enzo Fernandez in the next few games, the World Cup Winner might just be able to save Graham Potter from losing his job.
