Former Chelsea midfielder, Craig Burley has reacted after Timo Werner scored a hat-trick for Leipzig on Tuesday.

The German striker returned to his former this summer after living below expectations at Stamford Bridge

Burley blasted Werner’s compatriot, Kai Havertz after Chelsea’s ‘unacceptable’ Premier League defeat to Southampton on Tuesday, saying that Havertz could go the way of Werner.

The Blues mixed start to the new season continued at St Mary’s as Ralph Hasenhuttl’s young side delivered the victory, while Werner was firing on all cylinders in Germany after leaving Stamford Bridge earlier this summer.

Raheem Sterling put Chelsea ahead but Southampton fired back through Romeo Lavia and Adam Armstrong.

“Timo Werner’s gone back and scored a hat-trick in Germany, that tells you all you need to know. He couldn’t cut it in England and Havertz is the same,” he said on ESPN.

“Mount’s not playing well. They’ll all be crying about Pulisic after that. It’s up to these players to do it.

“Ziyech, he’s lightweight. When he came in under Lampard we were all worried because he looked injury-prone and weak.

“These players are all worth millions. The manager needs to sort it out,” he added.
