Naija News learned that Buorubouru alongside some ISWAP fighters were ambushed by the Boko Haram terrorists around Gabara/Galta area close to the Mandara mountains of Lake Chad axis in Borno State.
It is understood that some four gun trucks with Russian Dushka and Browning Machine Guns (BMGs) belonging to ISWAP were set ablaze by the Boko Haram insurgents.
This is coming hours after troops of the Nigerian Army Operation Desert Sanity thwarted ambush attacks by members of the Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist group in Mandagarau along Damboa to Biu road in Borno state.
The Nigerian troops who were on a long-range patrol in the general area intercepted the communication of the terrorists.
It was gathered that the ISWAP fighters were on a mission to plant an Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs), against troops.
According to security expert Zagazola Makama, the terrorists were also planning to attack troops as soon as they succeeded in detonating the IEDs.
Following the Intel, the troops stormed the location, thwarting the plans of the dreaded terrorist group.
On sighting the soldiers, ISWAP fighters took to their heels, abandoning their mission.
The troops later cleared the Improvised Explosive Devices and facilitated the safe passage of commuters to their various destinations.
