Appendicitis disease has various causes. The most common cause is infection from bacteria or viruses. Other causes can be an obstruction in the bowel or a rupture in the stomach or intestines.

Causes of Appendicitis

1. A buildup of hardened stool

One possible reason for the appendix to become blocked is when a lot of hardened stool gets stuck in the colon and gets stuck there.

2. Enlarged lymphoid follicles

The lymph nodes can get bigger when they’re infected, and this can lead to appendicitis when it doesn’t get treated.

3. Intestinal worms

This happens when there are a lot of intestinal worms that clog up the lumen of the body. This can cause the appendix to become blocked.

4. Traumatic injury

It can also happen when there is an intestinal injury because of blunt abdominal trauma.

5. Tumours

If there is a change and growth in the cells in the appendix, then this is known as appendix cancer.

Symptoms of Appendicitis:

1. An acute pain in the lower right abdomen, which may radiate to the back.

2. Nausea or vomiting, which may be accompanied by pain.

3. Feeling of pressure in the lower abdomen.

4. Fever, chills and shivering.

5. Painful urination or defecation with blood in your stool.

Some foods, on the other hand, can cause constipation or make it hard to pass stool. This is because hardened stool is one of the main causes of the appendix becoming blocked. Some of the foods to avoid include:

1. Alcohol

Consuming of xcessive alcohol can lead to constipation since it can increase the amount of fluid you lose through urine, thus causing dehydration.

2. Processed grains

There is not a lot of fibre in processed grains like bread, white rice, and pasta. This is a known cause of constipation because there is not a lot of fibre in them.

3. Red meat

Red meat doesn’t have a lot of fibre, and because it takes a long time for the body to break it down, it might make it hard to go to the bathroom.

4. Fast foods

A lot of fried or fast food that is low in fibre but has a lot of fat can slow down your digestion and cause constipation. This is because these foods have a lot of fat.
