The two major political parties in the country, the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party have been trying to de-market each other to gain the support of Nigerians ahead of the presidential poll.
On the platform of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, the outspoken Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has been trying to convince Nigerians to vote PDP in 2023 presidential election on the ground that the opposition party will solve the current challenges in the country.
In a report by The Nation Newspaper, the Rivers State Governor revealed that only the Peoples Democratic Party can salvage the killings in Nigeria and urged members of his party to be united and kick APC out of power in 2023.
The Rivers State Governor went further to allege that Nigerians are dying on daily basis because APC-led government lacks the ability to secure the lives of Nigeria and boasted that only PDP can stop the killings.
If Wike’s Claim Is True, Why Did APC Use Insecurity To Campaign Against PDP In 2015?
If the claim of Governor Wike is true that only PDP can stop the killings in the country, why did the ruling All Progressives Congress use the same insecurity to campaign against PDP in 2015 presidential election and won the support of many Nigerians?
Recall that one of the major things APC used to campaign against PDP in the 2015 presidential election was insecurity and promised to tackle the insurgency ravaging the northern Nigeria.
During the presidential campaign in 2015, APC had described insecurity as one of the fundamental issues facing Nigeria and promised to tackle it. This was after the famous Nyanya bomblast on April 14, 2014 which left many people killed and several others injured.
APC was eventually voted into into power by Nigerians in the 2015 presidential poll which led to the defeat of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
While APC believed they have made tremendous gains in the fight against insecurity, the chieftain of the opposition party has continued to criticize APC-led government over the current state of insecurity in the country and believed PDP can solve the security challenges if the party is voted back to power in 2023.
