A skincare fan shared her simple DIY mask to get rid of dark circlesCredit: Tiktok/selinadasilvaa. Selina (@selinadasilvaa) shared the anti-aging skincare tip in a TikTok video.
With a brush, she gently applied a homemade mask under her eyes. “Using coffee to say goodbye to dark circles and tired eyes,” she said.
She revealed in a comment that she mixed coffee, a spoonful of water, and a bit of honey to create the mask. After mixing up the simple DIY, she lightly dabbed the paste on bare skin.
Once she was ready, she removed the grounds from the area with a washcloth, making sure not to tug at the area. Studies have shown that caffeine can temporarily reduce darkness underneath the eyes.
Caffeine, which acts as a diuretic, helps to reduce fluid retention under the eye. “Caffeine is soothing, anti-inflammatory, and vasoconstrictive, which can decrease redness and puffiness,” explains certified clinical and research dermatologist Dr. Jeannette Graf.
While the results of applying coffee grounds to the under-eyes may prove to be only temporary, the treatment can still calm the skin and reduce puffiness.
