There are many advantages attached to using condoms during intercourse as a contraception method.

They include the following;

1. The Condom is very easy to use because it does not require a prescription while other contraception methods require the doctor’s help along with a prescription before usage.

2. Condoms do not have a negative effect on the user’s fertility. They are a simple ‘use and throw’ method of controlling pregnancy. It does not affect your possibility of conceiving the next time you want to have intercourse.

3. The product is easy to purchase because it is available in the most open shop and even online. There is not much stress if you want to purchase a pack of condoms.

4. Using condoms assist with preventing STIs by creating a barrier to block the exchange of bodily fluids. Many sexually transmitted infections such as HIV, gonorrhea, syphilis, trichomoniasis, and genital herpes can be avoided by using condoms during intercourse. This advantage is good for individuals who change partners regularly.

5. The condom has an effective percentage of about 98. When being used properly it has a high success rate, which makes it a regular method of contraception available for many people.

In as much as they are many advantages to using condoms, they are also disadvantages attached to using them.

They include the following;

1. Most people suffering from latex allergies may not find it easy to use regular condoms. People in this category are advised to use polyurethane condoms but regular condoms are less expensive to them.

2. The use of condoms reduces the sensitivity connected to having intercourse. The barrier posed by condoms reduces the pleasure of intercourse.

4. The condom may break due to excessive friction during intercourse which may result in an unwanted pregnancy.
