The incident occurred on the Bondo-Usenge road in the Nyamonye area on Sunday night, involving a head-on collision between two motorcycles.

According to reports from Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, Paytone Mitch Opiyo was riding a motorcycle with his brother Felix Opiyo as a pillion passenger, en route from Usenge to Bondo.

The collision occurred at the Nyamonye area when their motorcycle collided head-on with another motorcycle ridden by Richard Omondi.

The loss of both Paytone Mitch Opiyo and Richard Omondi at the scene of the accident has left a deep void in their families and communities.

The impact of the collision was devastating, resulting in fatal injuries. It’s reported that Paytone Mitch Opiyo had attended the burial of Chief of Defence Forces Francis Ogolla in Siaya earlier that day, as revealed by blogger Cyprian Nyakundi.

The untimely loss of life in such tragic circumstances has sent shockwaves through the Kenya Defence Forces and beyond.

In the aftermath of the accident, Felix Opiyo, the brother of Paytone Mitch Opiyo, and Walter Aloo, the passenger on the other motorcycle, sustained multiple leg fractures.

They were promptly rushed to the Siaya County referral hospital for urgent medical attention. As the nation mourns the loss of a dedicated KDF soldier, our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones affected by this tragedy.
