According to Chief Justice Martha Koome, the Judicial Service Commission picked 41 out of 82 who applied for the top job.

“At the close of the advertisement on 29th February 2024, a total of 82 applications were received. The JSC having reviewed the application for completeness and conformity with the requirements as set out in the advertisement, shortlisted 41 candidates,” remarked Koome.

The Raila Odinga-led team revealed that they had formed a joint parliamentary inquiry team over the matter.

National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi proclaimed that the group settled on MP Anthony Oluoch and Kitui Senator Enock Wambua to head the process.

“We have authorised Anthony Oluoch and Enoch Wambua to lead a process of establishing a joint Parliamentary inquiry from both the Senate and National Assembly in the unfortunate death of Ogolla,” stated Wandayi.

Ichung’wah Makes a Crucial Suggestion Over Ruto’s Plane

National Assembly Majority leader Kimani Ichung’wah came out to make a crucial call over President William Ruto’s jet days after CDF Ogolla’s tragic death.

Ichung’wah who spoke during a Parliamentary session held on Tuesday, April 23, suggested that both Ruto’s plane, the military, and police aircraft should be modernized.

He further noted that the military had in the past approached the house for resources to upgrade their equipment.

“At times the military does come before the house looking for resources to modernize equipment, and I have many members during the budget-making process criticize without knowledge,” commented the Majority Leader.

CS Kuria Makes New Proposal That Could ‘Spell Doom’ for Gov’t Employees

Civil servants could experience a drastic change to their employment terms if a proposal by Public Service CS Moses Kuria is approved.

Reports emerged that Kuria had fronted a suggestion that would see government employees go from being permanent to being employed on a contract basis.

The CS revealed that the new plan is set to be presented to the cabinet before the final decision is made.

Kuria argued that the huge number of civil servants contributed to the bloated public wage bill that in turn was putting a heavy burden on taxpayers.

“Last week, we were in the wage bill conference and pointed out that one million consuming 50 per cent of our tax revenue means there’s something wrong. That is why if the doctors think we are against them, this week on Friday, I will be moving to Cabinet to present a proposal which if Cabinet approves, all government workers from drivers to cleaners to everyone will be converted to contract. No one will be on permanent terms.
