The Portuguese captain gave a performance that clearly showed that he is on a huge decline and should be dropped to the bench by the National team coach of Portugal ahead of their FIFA World Cup. He was very poor in the game as he missed several goal scoring opportunities.

Also his decision making was poor. For example, in the 71st minute of the game, the former Real Madrid striker received the ball in 18 yard box and with only the goalkeeper to beat, he was dispossessed by a Spanish defender.

Cristiano Ronaldo is yet to score a single goal since the current International break commenced. It is indeed time for the Portuguese coach to imitate Erik Ten Hag by benching Cristiano Ronaldo and use other players to execute games.
