Monchengladbach got the equaliser 9 minutes later through Florian Neuhaus who scored effortlessly in the 27th minute to make it level at 1-1. They took the lead before half-time with Stefan Lainer steering a header into the net in the 31st minute.

Bayern Munich tried getting the equaliser in the second half but all their efforts proved futile, as the match eventually ended 2-1 at full-time with Borussia Monchengladbach taking all three points home.
