1. Avoid Using Illegal Drugs

Heroin, ecstasy, cocaine, heroin and methamphetamines even in little doses, can affect your heart. It might cause an increase in your heart rate and blood pressure. Your arteries may also tighten as a result of it.

2. Be active

It’s not too late to get started with a workout program. According to one study, middle-aged men and women who were not physically fit might minimize their risk of heart failure by taking efforts to increase their fitness.

Before you begin, consult your physician. At least 2 1/2 hours of moderate-intensity aerobic activity each week — the type that gets your heart beating — should be your goal.

3. Avoid Smoking

Address your high blood pressure and take any cholesterol-lowering medicine prescribed by your doctor. Consult a physician straight away if you’re having problems taking your medications as directed.

5. Reduce Alcohol

6. Lose Weight If Necessary

Another important way to avoid heart failure is to maintain a healthy weight. A BMI of 18.5 to 24.9 is a good target to shoot towards.

Also, abdominal fat, which can increase your risk of heart disease much more than fat in other regions of your body, should be avoided.

7. Eat Healthily

You should eat healthy if you want to avoid heart failure. Saturated fats, salt, trans fats and added sugar are all foods that should be avoided in your diet.

Choose low-fat dairy products, vegetables and fruits, and lean protein instead. Olive oil, walnuts, avocados, and seafood like salmon and tuna are all healthy sources of “good fats.”
