In this article I will highlight four things you shouldn’t consume when pregnant because they can harm your health or your child’s health negatively.

Unborn babies or children in their formative days are very sensitive to the things you consume as the mother. This is why your doctors or caregivers will always advice against taking or consuming some things when pregnant because they can affect your unborn child.

1. The first on the list is alcohol. Most women make the mistake of consuming binge alcohol when pregnant without considering the effect on their children. Alcohol consumption during pregnancy can cause a condition known as fetal alcohol syndrome which can lead to worse health conditions that can even lead to the death of your unborn child.

2. Raw Fish Or meat. Raw foods can be a source of pathogenic organisms which can expose your child to infection that can lead to health problems that can lead to fetal or child morbidity or even mortality. Always cook your meat and fish well before eating especially pork meat, beef and the likes.

3. Hard drug or abusive drugs. It might be difficult without psychotherapy and other medical intervention but you need to stay away from hard drugs when pregnant for the sake of your child’s health. If it doesn’t affect the baby in the womb, it might make the child prone to consuming these drugs as the age.

4. Raw eggs. Like raw foods, eating raw eggs when pregnant can harm you child by predisposing them to infection. Remember your immunity is usually low when pregnant and do eating foods that introduce pathogens into your system is risky and not good for your baby.
