Asiwaju Tinubu who is strongly believed to be nursing a presidential ambition in 2023 had on Wednesday, November 24, visited the elder statesman.
Yakasai speaking with Saturday PUNCH on Friday, November 26, stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader was at his home to solicit support for his presidential ambition in 2023.
Yakasai, who is also a founding member of the Arewa Consultative Forum revealed that he would support the former Lagos state governor’s presidential bid in the next general elections.
He said: “Tinubu just came to visit me but actually I have two of them (presidential aspirants) that I have earmarked right from the beginning and I made a vow that any one of them who came to ask for my support first is the person I would support. Tinubu is the first person.”
Though Asiwaju Tinubu is yet to officially declare his intention to contest any office posters and billboards advertising the rumoured presidential bid have been spotted in major cities in Nigeria.
Yakasai also confirmed that the APC national leader told him he would be contesting for president and asked for his support.
Meanwhile, the national secretary of Asiwaju Grassroots Foundation, an organisation that has been around for over a decade, Ali Balogun Ibrahim, says Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is a rare gem who loves Nigeria so much.
Ibrahim who is also the special assistant to the Speaker of the House of Representatives on youth matters, made the comment in an exclusive interview with online news media in Abuja.
The APC chieftain was speaking on the 2023 presidential election and why he thinks the former governor of Lagos state, should join the race.
He said:“Asiwaju is our mentor, he is a role model, he is the epitome of change and someone that loves his country so much. Somebody that can sacrifice anything that he has for the development of Nigeria.
“For someone to choose in his lifetime, to choose to develop both human and capital resources. He is a rare gem. He is someone that people like us are looking up to.
“And like I do tell people, you don’t need someone to do more research whenever they want to contribute to the development of their community, state, or country. All they need to do is just to study the person of Asiwaju.”
Ibrahim also joined in the calls for Tinubu to declare his presidential ambition, adding that the former Lagos state governor is the best among the rumoured contestants in the APC for the coveted position.
